Who is David Datro Fofana and why did Chelsea sign him?
According to a recent report by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is almost certain to sign striker David Datro Fofana from Molde FK.
His quick ascent to the elite level over the previous two years is the reason he is not well known.
He has just spent a little under two years playing for Molde after being signed in February 2021 from Ivory Coast.
Center forward is Fofana’s primary position. He may also be deployed as a wide right striker, but his strengths as a central striker are best utilized in that position.
His hold-up play and involvement of other attackers benefit from his physical power. When isolated against a defender, he may outpace him in a one-on-one situation thanks to his rapid change of speed.
At first, he played only a minor role, appearing as a replacement for the team while occasionally scoring. In his first season, he failed to score for the Norwegian team in the Eliteserien, but in five domestic cup games, he managed to score twice and provide an assist.
Fofana’s performance improved significantly once he became a more consistent starter. He made 24 league games for Molde in 2022, scoring 15 goals and assisting on 5 others.
We can look at how Graham Potter would want to use Fofana in the lineup if all of our players are healthy, even though we don’t know much about his plans for the player at Chelsea.
