Timo Werner, a former Chelsea player, issues a caution to a new Chelsea recruit.

Timo Werner, a former Chelsea player, has told Christopher Nkunku, a teammate at RB Leipzig, that he would be subject to greater scrutiny and pressure whenever he joins Chelsea.

Nkunku has been officially acquired by Chelsea from RB Leipzig. The France attacker is expected to travel to Stamford Bridge in the next summer.

After admitting to having a difficult time in west London, Werner departed Chelsea for RB Leipzig last summer. He has since informed Nkunku that switching from RB Leipzig to Chelsea will expose him to greater pressure and competition.

Werner, who scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea, told Bild that “everyone needs to have their own experience.”

“My first year was pretty nice, but my second wasn’t great. Should he relocate, I can inform him based on both positive and negative experiences.

“At a club like that, you don’t play like you did at RB Leipzig because there is even greater competition—not just on a physical level, but also on another level, in the cerebral area.

You must deal with that, and everyone must find their own solution. Giving others advice is thus the incorrect strategy.

“The time I spent there greatly altered me. It helped me become wiser and more introspective. And inspired me to travel overseas once more at the conclusion of my career.

“I continue to get several emails from Chelsea supporters or am addressed when on vacation, nearly always in a favorable manner. They favored my authenticity, I believe.

It’s critical, in my opinion, to be yourself in football as well. You don’t always need to act fake, either.
