“Save your career, Leave Chelsea in January”: After Potter benched him against AC Milan, Marco Van Basten urges a Chelsea player to leave the club.
The midfielder’s circumstances at Stamford Bridge are “not favorable for football,” according to the most recent sources, and Marco van Basten has reportedly pushed Hakim Ziyech to quit Chelsea.
Graham Potter benched Ziyech in Chelsea’s last two games, meaning he has only appeared in two Premier League games so far this season.
The Moroccan international was reportedly a target during the summer transfer window for Tottenham, Manchester United, and AC Milan.
Van Basten feels that Ziyech ought to push for a trade out of Chelsea in January in order to rescue his career.
“The next transfer window is approaching,” Van Basten said to Ziggo Sport.
“It is unfortunate and a shame. Ziyech excels as a player. We watch TV in search of a player like them because we have to see them, and then we travel to the stadium.
“He being on the bench is unfortunate for football as a whole. Football will suffer if these players are not given playing time.”
When asked if he thought Ziyech would give Chelsea a go, Van Basten replied, “I don’t know, but there is another difficulty.”
“Clubs should be restricted to a particular number of players, as per a rule.
“Therefore, Chelsea has far too many players, which lessens the appeal of football. A player like Ziyech might just play for another team and amuse the crowd.
“There will soon be 35-player teams with five or six guys who never participate. They might perform well in other clubs.
“Eighteen clubs must be the limit for all contests. You then take part in a few less games. Consequently, you are limited to using no more than, say, 26 players per game.
“You can see it’s feasible. Real Madrid, as an illustration. They only have eighteen to twenty players who consistently play, and they only have a standard selection. Therefore, that ought to be achievable in theory.”
