Chelsea has one of the strongest defensive squad depth in the 2022/23 Premier league season. In the 2022 summer transfer window, the new owner invested heavily in the defensive areas as he signed W. Fofana, K. Koulibaly and M. Cucurella. However, Chelsea have one of the biggest defensive squad depth in the premier league.

Goalkeeper: E. Mendy.

Defenders: Koulibaly, Trevor Chalobah, T. Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Reece James , Fofana and M. Cucurella.

Midfielders: Kovacic and Ngolo Kante.

Striker: Kai Havertz.

This defensive set-up will see James and Cucurella serve as Midfielders and wingers. Both Players have to ability to multitask and this is the attributes that made them so special.

Cucurella has worked under Graham Potter at Brighton and will probably be a regular starter for the club during his tenure.
