He’s a huge disappointment for me: Chelsea player criticizes Tuchel for deceiving him

Pulisic has acknowledged that Tuchel misled him prior to Chelsea’s 2020–21 Champions League semifinal showdown against Real Madrid.

In his new book, “Christian Pulisic: My Journey So Far,” Pulisic writes, “What transpired before that game was enormously disappointing for me.”

“We played Fulham in the league the next day after a tremendously strong first leg performance. I didn’t play a single minute in the Fulham game because Tuchel informed me that he was resting me for the second leg.

“Then, on the day of the second semifinal game, Tuchel informs me that he has altered his mind and will now start Kai [Havertz]. I was genuinely surprised and dissatisfied.

“I believed I had earned a start, and more significantly, he had earlier guaranteed me I would get the ball rolling. I was therefore really agitated when he finally invited me on with approximately 25 minutes remaining.”
