Graham Potter will begin his Blues revolution with these six additions in January.
After Thomas Tuchel was fired following Chelsea’s UCL defeat to Dinamo Zagreb, the Blues moved quickly to appoint Graham Potter as Brighton’s head coach.
However, at Stamford Bridge, talks for new recruits for January and the following summer are well under way as the English strategist tries to rearrange his team to suit his preferences.
However, Graham Potter might begin his career as Chelsea manager by making the following six signings.
Josko Gvardiol: The Former European Champions reportedly had a bid for Gvardiol of approximately £77 million rejected this summer; had the offer been accepted, the highly regarded defender would have continued on loan at the German club, RB Leipzig, until the end of the 22/23 season.
The Croatian international, who is considered one of the most talented young center backs in Europe, is expected to pique the Premier League team’s interest once more.
Chelsea would likely have to spend a fortune to recruit him this winter because of his long-term deal with the Bundesliga club, which runs through the summer of 2027.
Moises Caicedo: The Ecuadorian midfielder, who scored key goals against Man United & Leicester City, signed for Brighton in February 2021 and has participated in 16 games.
The 20-year-old is reportedly being considered by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool as a potential midfield addition in the January transfer window. The promising midfielder might decide to reunite with his former Boss, Graham Potter, after just recently saying he was content at the Amex Stadium.
Declan Rice: According to reports, the England international and the Hammers have a deal in place that will allow him to stay with the London club through the rest of the current season before moving on in the summer.
The Englishman was named the new captain when Mark Noble retired at the conclusion of the previous season.
Given that the 23-year-West old’s Ham contract ends in the summer of 2024, it’s thought that a massive cost of £150 million would be sufficient to entice him away from the London Stadium.
Tariq Lamptey: Even though Chelsea has many full-back options, a transfer would allow Lamptey to reconnect with his former manager and rejoin his former team.
The teenage defender pledged his future to the Seagulls in January by signing a new long-term contract that would keep him with the team through the end of the 2024–25 season.
Reece James might, however, transfer to a different position.
Florian Wirtz: A move to the English Premier League would interest Florian Wirtz, a Bayer Leverkusen youth product.
Elite teams in Europe have expressed interest in the highly regarded midfielder. Despite missing some games in the German Bundesliga last season due to injury, he scored 7 goals and had 10 assists in 24 appearances.
Leandro Trossard: According to reports, Trossard could join Potter’s team at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian has had a strong start to the season with two goals and one assist in six games.
Potter deployed the 27-year-old as a left wing-back, no. 9, no. 10, and an attacker when he first joined the South Coast club.
