GOOD NEWS: Graham Potter has identified 22-year-old Ligue 1 star as perfect attacker to partner Aubameyang at Chelsea in January.

Jonathan David, a striker for Lille, is apparently a target for Chelsea manager Graham Potter. The Englishman feels that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be best paired with the Canadian striker.

According to a report in Jeunes Footeux, Chelsea has expressed interest in David. After an outstanding stint at Lille, the attacker is viewed as one who might spearhead the assault for the London team in the years to come.

The Canadian striker has scored 41 goals in 107 games for the Ligue 1 team across all competitions. Before going to Lille in 2020, he was also in comparable form for KAA Gent, scoring 37 goals in 83 games for the Belgian team.

David’s current deal expires in 2025, thus Chelsea will need to pay at least €60 million to sign him. After Timo Werner returned to RB Leipzig this summer, the Blues acquired Aubameyang. To play alongside Aubameyang, Chelsea does have Armando Broja, Kai Havertz, and Romelu Lukaku in their lineup.

The Belgian will return to Inter Milan in the summer while on loan there.
