Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf reveals Chelsea’s one big mistake Todd Boehly should try to rectify next summer.
Frank Leboeuf, a former Chelsea defender, expressed regret at the Blues’ decision to let Declan Rice, then 14 years old, leave their academy.
The Frenchman referred to the 23-year-old as “Declan Rice genuinely is the future of England.”
Chelsea erred greatly by allowing him to leave all those years ago.
Less than ten years later, Rice is a starter for England and the captain of West Ham, and Chelsea has been attempting to re-sign him ever since Frank Lampard was the manager.
As long as Rice rejects contract offers from West Ham and is eager to take on a new challenge, the Blues might be as close as they have ever been to that goal by the summer of 2019.
Todd Boehly might be able to provide him with that because the co-owner of Chelsea is apparently willing to pursue the midfielder, who might be valued approximately £70 million next summer.
