Graham Potter has apparently received assurances that a deal would be made for Christopher Nkunku to join Chelsea.
Todd Boehly reportedly informed Potter that the move of the RB Leipzig attacker is nearly complete, according to TEAMtalk.
Boehly is obviously eager to continue the summer spending binge by bringing more stars to Stamford Bridge.
Since taking over for Roman Abramovich, the American owner has continued to place a great focus on Nkunku.
The France international seems to be the next footballing treasure the Chelsea manager will shortly claim.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there is already a verbal agreement between Chelsea and Leipzig.
All that has to be resolved, it seems, is when the attacker will relocate to south-west London.
Now, Potter needs Nkunku.
It makes sense that Potter would want Nkunku to join his team in January as he seeks to address his team’s scoring issues.
The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals and provided four assists so far this season.
Leipzig does not want to lose its primary shooter in the middle of the season for this reason.
Due to his striker’s prowess in front of goal, Marco Rose is still vying for champions League qualifying.
If they agree to cover Nkunku’s £53 million release clause, though, Rose’s employers might not be able to stave off Chelsea’s advances.
After the world cup, Boehly’s rebuilding project may get another pillar if he pays the price.
