Chelsea’s new contract negotiations with Mason Mount suffers a huge blow; with less than 18 months remaining in his current deal

JUST IN: Chelsea’s new contract negotiations with Mason Mount suffers a huge blow; with less than 18 months remaining in his current deal.

According to The Telegraph, negotiations over contracts between Chelsea and Mason Mount have reached a deadlock.

The 23-year-current old’s contract expires in 18 months, and since the summer, he has been in negotiations with his old club about a new one.

But more effort must be done to get toward an agreement if there is to be any movement at all.

Mount is one of the lowest-paid players in the first squad because he signed his current contract prior to his breakthrough under Frank Lampard. Chelsea wants to sign him to a new, long-term contract, and ideally, his new contract will reflect his status as a consistent starter.

If Chelsea is unable to extend Mount’s contract, Lorenzo Pellegrini of Roma and Yeremy Pino of Villarreal are two players who are regarded to be alternatives. The Blues’ top objective is to keep their academy graduate, though.
