Chelsea’s £80 million bid for the world-class talent is turned down

BREAKING: Chelsea’s £80 million bid for the world-class talent is turned down.

Following the arrival of the new owners, Chelsea made a number of audacious offers for players over the previous summer.

In order to instantly enhance the squad, they wanted to get to work and try to get some of the greatest players. Although it may have been more, they ultimately spent about £250 million on new players.

As they looked for certain players for particular positions to improve the team, other offers and suggestions were turned down by teams.

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol was one player they attempted to sign. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano also notes that Leipzig turned down a €80 million approach from Chelsea for Gvardiol in the summer in his Daily Briefing, which he writes exclusively for CaughtOffside’s Substack.

He also says Chelsea are still interested in signing the young defender, albeit it’s not certain if they would make a fresh offer or not.

“Chelsea are interested and have been since last summer,” added Romano.

“They requested a €80 million deal with add-ons for him for the 2023 season, but Leipzig rejected.

The contest is still open, and nothing will happen right now because he is entirely focused on the World Cup, according to what I’ve been informed is that Chelsea are still interested.
