Chelsea are reportedly interested in extending Brazilian star Thiago Silva’s contract.

Silva has proven many people wrong who said he was far too old to compete in the Premier League since his move from PSG just a couple of seasons ago.

However, his contract expires at the end of the season, and there has been some speculation that the club is willing to let him go in order to use one of their talented young stars more frequently.

He signed an extension in January and was overjoyed to be able to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge – but it appears that Chelsea are eager to let him go.

“I think Chelsea could probably get another year out of him, and I think they’ll look to extend it another year,” Phillips told GIVEMESPORT.

Fofana can rely on him for experience, as can Koulibaly, who is entering a new league.”

“He’s obviously not as young as Fofana, but he can lean on Silva and, if you like, take the reins off Silva to play in that central center-back position, and he could certainly use Thiago Silva’s words of advice right now as he tries to settle in a new league.”

Back in January, the Brazilian said he was overjoyed that he would be able to stay.

The Brazilian stated in January that he was thrilled to be able to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, saying, “To play here with Chelsea is a real pleasure.”

“I never expected to play for this great club for three years, so I’m thrilled to be back for another.”

Silva went on to say, “It’s amazing to have this relationship with the fans, not to mention the players, staff, and the entire club.”

“I’m going to give everything I’ve got to keep playing at this level in the world’s most important league.”
