Chelsea in line to sign Croatian “God of thunder” to replace Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge

BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea in line to sign Croatian “God of thunder” to replace Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge.

Despite failing to acquire Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig over the summer, Chelsea is still considering a transfer for the defender.

Chelsea is still considering a transfer for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol despite their failure to sign him over the summer.

The Blues wanted to come to a deal with Leipzig over a transfer fee of roughly €80 million for the highly regarded 20-year-old talent at that time, but Leipzig refused to release him.

There appears to be an open bidding war for Gvardiol, according to Fabrizio Romano in his Daily Briefing, written exclusively for CaughtOffside’s Substack. However, nothing has been decided as of yet because the player is presently concentrated on the World Cup.

According to Romano, who addressed current reports regarding Gvardiol and Chelsea, Chelsea has been interested in Gvardiol since last summer.

For the 2023 season, they asked Leipzig for a €80 million deal with add-ons, but Leipzig refused.

The race is still open, and I’m informed that Chelsea are still interested, but there hasn’t been any agreement. Nothing will happen right away because he is entirely focused on the World Cup.

After seeing how brilliantly he performed during his time playing in Germany, it is obvious why Chelsea was prepared to invest a significant amount of money on the talented young Croatian international this summer.

The west London juggernauts would still be wise to sign this great player and bring him to Stamford Bridge despite Kalidou Koulibaly’s relatively underwhelming start to current season. However, Thiago Silva isn’t getting any younger and his professional career at the highest level is surely coming to an end.
