Reports from Italy suggest that Chelsea are considering launching a move to sign Tammy Abraham from Roma.
According to Calcio Mercato, the Blues are lining up the Englishman as a potential reinforcement for the striker role, a position they are currently short in.
Armando Broja has been informed that his first season in the first team is over, after suffering an injury in a friendly against Aston Villa.
He was forced off on a stretcher, with his screams of agony a pre-warning of the extent of the injury.
Because of this, it has been widely reported that the Blues will be entering the market for a striker as early as next month.
It has been claimed that they are close to agreeing a deal to sign Ivorian David Datro Fofana. However, it has since been rumoured that his signing could end on him being loaned out straight away.
The lack of reinforcements though suggests that they may not be finished with just the Fofana deal.
Chelsea considering Abraham
Calcio Mercato have claimed that they still hold an interest in Abraham, who was sold after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel in 2021
In his breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge, he certainly scored enough goals to show he can compete in one of the better teams in the Premier League.
While he originally took Serie A by storm, he has not enjoyed his finest season by any means this year.
He has just three goals in the Serie A, with Jose Mourinho’s side way off the pace.
Calcio Mercato do go on to say that the deal is unlikely to be in January, pointing to there being more chance of it in the summer.
With the Blues set to sign Christopher Nkunku at the end of the season, it perhaps looks unlikely they’ll revisit the Abraham avenue anytime soon.
