As Todd Boehly submitted an urgent Thomas Tuchel plea, Chelsea supporters disagree on the Graham Potter verdict.
After the Blues’ 1-0 loss to Newcastle United, Chelsea supporters have disagreed on Graham Potter’s future. As the west Londoners enter the World Cup outside of the European qualification spots, the head coach has come in for criticism from some parts of the club’s fanbase.
A few fans have started to question Potter’s capacity to steer the team into a new era, raising concerns about the 47-year-old. With Brighton, Liverpool, and Manchester United standing in the way of a top-four spot, Chelsea have lost their last five Premier League games and are sliding down the table.
However, despite the avalanche of criticism, an equal number of Blues supporters have praised Potter and placed the blame on Todd Boehly. The American businessman has come under fire for firing Thomas Tuchel and then plunging the newly appointed Chelsea manager into chaos.
In light of this, football.london has compiled some of the responses to the Chelsea manager and co-owner.
“Potter is actually the victim,” tweeted @lewdawg. In the midst of an injury crisis, Boehly forced him into the most hostile circumstances he had ever encountered with the poorest team we had seen in years.
@Catenaccio I have absolutely no connection to Boehly and Potter’s idea, Era tweeted. I’m sorry, but I must acknowledge that I cannot adapt to this cultural shift. especially given how much of a drop down it is. I didn’t fall in love with this club.
