“AN ABSOLUTE ANIMAL, A BEAST, “Let him return to central Midfield”: An ex-Chelsea player argues for the restoration of a 22-year-old Chelsea player to central midfield

“AN ABSOLUTE ANIMAL, A BEAST, “Let him return to central Midfield”: An ex-Chelsea player argues for the restoration of a 22-year-old Chelsea player to central midfield.

Reece James has been referred to as “an absolute beast” after yet another spectacular performance for Chelsea.

The defender was the star of the show as Graham Potter’s squad upset Italian champions AC Milan 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to climb into second position in Group E of the Champions League.

The 22-year-old defender, who scored on Wednesday night against Milan, is swiftly rising to the top of the league on the right side.

Rafael Leao, a powerful Milan attacker, was held in his pocket as a result of his excellent defense.

James has added five goal contributions to his six goals and 11 assists from previous season, solidifying his status as a fantastic all-around player.

And because of this, according to former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, James is ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool in the England starting lineup for the World Cup.

He also thinks the Blues star has what it takes to return to a more central midfield role, where he excelled while on loan at Wigan.

“Reece has so much to his game,” Cundy stated on The Sports Bar.

“He is outstanding technically. He has a beastly build.

“The league doesn’t have many powerful players, much alone right-backs. He is a complete animal physically, and he will not cede that ball.

“The way he uses his chest to bring the ball down is excellent, and he has a great first touch. He is also a great passer of the ball.

“He has the ability to play right-back or right wing-back, central midfield, center-half, and more,” one person said.

But during his time at Wigan in the 2018–19 season, James really acted as a center midfielder.
