35-goals, “world class” Star wants to move to Chelsea.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku is eager to join the west London club.

The 24-year-deal old’s reportedly includes a €60 million (£53 million) release clause that will take effect in 2023.

On Wednesday, The Telegraph reported that Chelsea was monitoring Nkunku. The Frenchman has reportedly undergone tests since then in anticipation of a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge early on in the upcoming season, according to the same source. It is not surprise that a lot of people are interested in him given his stellar 2021/22 campaign.

Nkunku did, however, score 35 goals overall across all leagues, including four in the DFB-Pokal as RB Leipzig went on to win the match on penalties.

After his success at the Red Bull Arena, Nkunku signed a new contract in June, putting an end to any interest from clubs in acquiring him during the previous transfer window.

A move still seems quite likely, though, because of a £53 million release clause in his contract that may be triggered next summer.

Nkunku is more than willing to join Chelsea, according to Phillips, who spoke to GIVEMESPORT.

“The medical doesn’t imply it’s a done deal yet,” the journalist told GMS. However, he is quite eager, therefore they are still in discussions with his team. To London, he wishes to relocate. For Chelsea, he has a particular passion.

“He will undoubtedly be achievable because his release clause will undoubtedly come into effect next summer, costing slightly over $50 million, in my opinion. And if you’re going to purchase a great forward player like Nkunku, that’s a fairly good price to get him for.”
